How we approach a new system

Sized with a load calculation

The right size comes from the conditioned square footage and the load, not from matching the old unit. An oversized system cools fast, shuts off early and leaves the house cold and clammy.

The options, side by side

Split system, packaged unit, heat pump or ductless mini-split, with the efficiency rating you choose. You see what each one costs and what each one gets before you decide.

The ductwork gets looked at

We check the existing ducts and tell you whether they stay, get sealed or get replaced. A new unit pushing air through leaking ducts is a new unit paying to cool your attic.

Permit, removal and disposal

The permit and the inspection your jurisdiction requires, and taking the old equipment away, are part of the job and part of the quote. No surprises on the last day.

How much does it cost to replace an air conditioner in Florida?

It depends on the conditioned square footage and the load calculation, the type of system, the efficiency rating you pick, the condition of the existing ductwork, the electrical supply, how accessible the equipment is, the permit requirements of your jurisdiction and the removal of the old unit. A number given blind is either so wide it is useless or so narrow it will be wrong. The estimate to replace a complete system is free, so the accurate number costs you nothing. That is the one visit with no fee: diagnosing a fault on a system you already have is a service call and does carry one.

How long does an air conditioner last in Southwest Florida?

Most systems here run 10 to 15 years. A unit in this climate works most of the year against heat and humidity, so coils foul, drains block and components wear faster than in a place with a real off-season. Maintenance history makes a big difference to where in that range a system lands.

Do I need a permit to replace my AC?

A system replacement normally requires a mechanical permit and a final inspection, and the exact requirements differ across Lee, Collier, Sarasota and Charlotte counties. We tell you what your job needs before the work is scheduled, and the permit is part of the quote rather than a line that appears later.

Can I finance a new air conditioning system?

Yes, through independent lending partners. We present the option and hand over the application; the lender is the one who approves or declines and who sets the rate and the term. We cannot promise an approval and we do not quote a monthly figure, because those are not ours to give.

Do you install ductless mini-splits?

Yes. Mini-splits are a good answer for an addition, a garage conversion, a room the ductwork never reached properly, or a house where running new ducts is not practical. They also let you condition one area without cooling the whole property.

My system uses R-410A. Do I have to replace it?

No. R-410A systems are legal, and they can still be serviced and repaired: the refrigerant remains available for existing equipment. What changed is manufacturing, since new residential systems now ship with R-454B or R-32 instead. The practical consequence is that when you do replace, the new unit comes with the new refrigerant, and nobody can top up an R-410A system with it because the two run at different pressures.

What size air conditioner does my house need?

That comes out of a load calculation, not from the tonnage of the old unit and not from the square footage alone. Insulation, window area and orientation, ceiling height, ductwork and how many people live there all move the number. Copying the previous size repeats whatever mistake was made last time, and in this climate an oversized unit is a humidity problem waiting to happen.

Is a heat pump worth it in Southwest Florida?

For most homes here it makes sense. It cools exactly the way a straight air conditioner does and it handles the handful of cold nights without a separate heating system. Whether it is the right call for your property depends on your ductwork, your electrical supply and what you are replacing, which is part of what the assessment looks at.

How long does an AC installation take?

A straight swap of a residential system is usually a one-day job. It stops being a one-day job when the ductwork has to be reworked, when the air handler sits somewhere awkward, when the electrical supply needs attention or when the permit and inspection schedule says otherwise. You get the real timeline with the written quote, not after the old unit is already out.
